Rooted in Nature is a four-week outdoor enrichment series hosted by Shore Sprouts at Birch Grove Park in Northfield, NJ. Designed for young children, these one-hour classes provide opportunities to move, explore, create, and learn through hands-on experiences in the natural environment.

Children have a natural curiosity about the world around them. Through outdoor play and guided nature-based activities, Rooted in Nature encourages children to follow that curiosity while developing important early childhood skills. Each session incorporates a balance of structured activities and child-led exploration, allowing little ones to learn at their own pace while engaging with the changing seasons.

Each one-hour class will include:

• Circle Time & Story: A welcoming group gathering with seasonal stories, songs, and movement activities.

• Guided Nature Activities: Hands-on activities inspired by the natural environment and the changing seasons.

• Open-Ended Exploration: Opportunities for child-led play, discovery, and creativity.

• Movement & Play: Activities that encourage gross motor development, coordination, and physical exploration.

• Social Connection: Opportunities to interact with other children, caregivers, and the natural world.

Rooted in Nature is designed as a caregiver-and-child experience. An adult caregiver is required to remain with and actively participate alongside their child throughout each session.

• Duration: Four Week Program- Nov 12, 19 & Dec 3, 10

• Dress: Classes take place outdoors, so participants should dress appropriately for the weather.

Classes will take place outdoors, embracing the changing seasons and providing children with opportunities to experience nature in all kinds of weather. We believe outdoor exploration, movement, and hands-on learning are valuable year-round, and there's always something new for little ones to discover.
